It's been quite a week for Lily. She's dealing with a boy in her class who likes to put his hands around her throat, and she had three teeth pulled to make room for her adult ones.
Then she asked me if I was the tooth fairy and knew I was lying when I said yes because my face looked funny. She decided Santa is not real either, but then later retracted that because it didn't make sense that Mommy would wrap presents for herself. Whew.
Yesterday she told me she wanted to be somewhere where there is no sun or light or shade or darkness.
Today she asked me "If a black man lives here long enough, will his skin turn white?"
At every turn I'm realizing there is so much more to "having a baby" than I ever realized.
