We were out for a walk a couple of days ago and Lily asked me why the flag at the legion was low (at half-mast). I explained that there were people from our country, Canada, fighting in wars far away and when they died, the flag was flown like that to remember them. Probably a very simple and very incomplete explanation, but I'm finding the older she gets the more complicated her questions are, and she remembers my first answer to most questions pretty much word-for-word so I do the best I can on the fly.

She thought about my answer for a while then said that when she is a bit bigger she is going to go around in her country, Canada, and teach people to be kind to each other and to share.
