Woochieisms

Lukasz is two and a half years old, and already I'm amazed at the words he knows and the way he uses them.

This morning he spilled a drop of his bottle on the bed and he said very clearly, "Oh oh, a little dot on the bed!" I wonder where he picked up the word dot. I think that's what amazes me so much. I can't remember specifically telling him a word, yet he uses it naturally.

I think I blogged a while ago that when Tom said to him one night, "Am I going to brush your teeth or what, Lukasz?" And Lukasz stopped running in circles for a moment, replied, "Um, what." And continued his running.

Well, a few nights ago I thought I'd try what I use on Lily when I need the kids to do something while giving them choice at the same time ("Do you want to wear this shirt or this shirt?" as a way of getting them dressed). It works for Lily, but Lukasz has already seen a way around this. I asked him, "Do you want Mommy to brush your teeth or Tatus to brush your teeth?" He looked at me, tilted his head onto my shoulder and said, "Um. Sleep now."

And then there's potty training, which he so far is not enjoying, other than the running around naked. When we are encouraging him to go on the potty, after he hasn't gone for a long time, he'll look down at himself and exclaim in dismay, "Not working!"

We've been in a little heat wave lately, so when we are home the kids just run around in their underwear, or less. Lukasz is very happy when he gets to wear "less". Being naked is cause for immediate celebration. He shouts "bee bum!" (his way of saying "naked bum!") and runs around as fast as he can, wanting us to chase his little bee bum. During the heat, he changed things up a bit and added a little wiggle-bum dance while holding a colander on his head and proclaiming he was a "mush-an!"
