Swimming

Tonight we took Lily and Lukasz to the public pool for an hour and a half of swimming, splashing and jumping. It was the first time Lily had been in the pool since her swimming lessons a year and a half ago and it was the first time Lukasz had been in a pool EVER.

Lukasz is pretty fearless in the tub; I have a video of him in the tub with Lily and he was sticking his face completely under the water and blowing out, and he always came up laughing. Then Lily would say "Again!" and he'd oblige. Lily unfortunately does not like being in the bath at all, and at first it was looking like she wasn't going to go in the pool either. She wanted to stay in the shallowest part with a watering can for the first half of our time there, whereas Lukasz was happily throwing a foam fish and chasing it, throwing it and chasing it and struggling to walk deeper and deeper wherever the fish went. He took a few spills and was completely soaked within 5 minutes of being in the pool, but that didn't phase him.

Eventually I took him in to the deeper part of the pool and he did not hesitate to jump in the water to me from the side of the pool. We had a great time blowing bubbles together in the water, too.

And when Lily saw Lukasz having such a great time in the deeper water, she decided to come down the steps with Tatus and join us. The lifeguard offered us a foam boat for her to sit in, and I wasn't sure if she'd go for it, but she loved it. Lukasz, on the other hand, wanted nothing to do with it. He was having too much fun jumping. So we towed Lily around for a while and then she and I laid on a foam mat on our tummies together and kicked to propel ourselves around the pool. That was really fun for me, and she was giggling a lot which was great to hear. After our time on the mat, she was ready to jump in the pool like Lukasz.

We all had a lot of fun, and it was the perfect way to give them some exercise after a rainy day at home. Best of all, we made it there during family swim, so we saved some money on the entrance fee.
