A big surprise: part 2

Today was our last day in Edmonton, so in the morning we packed up our things and got to see where Wujek Daniel & Ciocia Natalya work.

In the afternoon we went for a walk around the Capitol building.

Awww... Mommy and Tatus, so in love. :)

After that nice walk, Wujek Daniel & Ciocia Natalya treated us to some yummy Chinese food and it was time to start the long drive home. Lily and Lukasz were both not impressed with being in the car yet again, so Lily got to watch her Misiu show, and Tatus and I played with Lukasz. Gradually they both fell asleep, as did Tatus and I. Lily did wake up around 2 or 3 a.m. crying and desperately wanting "up!". We had to keep driving so we turned Misiu back on, but silently. And sure enough, she watched till she drifted off to sleep. I always thought having DVD players in trucks was extravagent, and I remember my brothers and I would entertain ourselves with books, music and travel games. But Lily is a little young for all that, other than the books, and since we had to just drive, drive, drive for over 12 hours, the DVD player turned out to be a lifesaver.

Throughout the night Tatus noticed that Lily woke up slightly whenever the truck tires went over the rumble strips on the side of the road. She'd mutter "hell 'zat?" and then fall back asleep. Not a great thing for a 2-year-old to be saying, but definitely one of those moments that have already become stories for us to tell and laugh about later.
