Happy Halloween!

So this year I dropped the ball - er, the pumpkin. By the time I realized we should probably get one, and walked from store to store in the pouring rain, all the pumpkins that were left were mouldy. As in, I tried to pick them up and my fingers would squish into the pumpkin. Gross.

So instead, we spent a morning (I think this was the day before Halloween) making a haunted house.

And the windows:
Lily chose what to put in the windows, which is why there is a lion.
Yes, that is a lion, not a cat with an inner tube on his head.
I put the monster behind the front door for Lukasz,
copying it from a Sesame Street lift the flap book that
he loves so much it is pretty much in tatters.

I love the facial expressions Lily makes when drawing "Smiley faces". They always come out different and I don't think I could draw some of these expressions if I tried.

We were invited to go trick-or-treating with Lily and Lukasz's friends Dominika and Konrad. Lily absolutely adores Dominika, and I was happy that their first real trick-or-treat experience was with such good friends.

Lily was Snow White, and Lukasz was a cowboy, or I guess a sheriff. I bought him an elephant costume but he hated it so we kept it simple. I pinned the star on his jacket and he still got lots of candy.

Big ol' CHEESE!

And off we go. Tatus and I wore witch hats, mine was yellow with orange feathers on the brim. I didn't take a picture of myself. Darn. :) Lily had a sucker before we left and she was still working on it as we trick-or-treated. She was very possessive of that treat.

Knock, knock, TRICK OR TREAT!

When Lukasz got a bag of chips from one of the first houses, he stopped on the driveway, put his bucket down, then crouched down and took the bag out and put it on the driveway. We put it back in, and he took it back out again. But eventually we got moving... they got lots of chips and their buckets were full in no time. Tatus' pockets and hood became the storage place for chip overflow.

Enjoying a treat.

It was a lovely afternoon/evening. The kids had a lot of fun, and Ania (Dominika and Konrad's mom) made a delicious dinner after all our hard work. :)
